Frequently Asked Questions

We welcome participants at all levels of experience with the Course. We do ask that you are familiar with the basic concepts.

Because the program is more effective when everyone starts and finishes together, we ask all participants to attend the entire program. Please no late arrivals or early departures.

The program begins on Sunday, February 2 at 7:00 PM and concludes on Friday, FEBRUARY 7 at Noon.

Book your flight to Kona on Hawaii Island, generally called “Big Island.” Kona is also known as Kailua-Kona, airport code KOA. Many airlines have direct flights to Kona. When planning your flights, please consider avoiding connections in Hawaii (Honolulu or Maui) as this will make your trip longer and you may be subject to delays.

Most rental car companies are represented at KOA and can easily be found online. Taxi service is also available; upon registration our office will provide more detail. We encourage ride shares and will assist in matching you with other participants seeking ride share. The retreat center is approximately a one-hour drive from the airport.

To create a retreat atmosphere and promulgate a sense of community among the participants, we ask that all participants lodge at the retreat center during the program.

You may choose from oceanfront bungalows, lodge rooms, and yurts. Shared and couple accommodations remain available. Rooms are on a first-come, first-served basis.

Couples discount applies to couples sharing one king bed.

Accommodations are arranged through our office. Please do not contact the retreat center for your accommodations during the retreat.

We find that sharing meals is an important element of the retreat, so we ask all participants to join in the meal plan. Also, the center is in a remote location without many services.

The center is accustomed to accommodating participants with allergies; gluten-free, dairy free, refined sugars, and there is always a vegetarian and vegan option. The dining hall puts items on the side wherever possible so that you have a choice about your ingredients. An effort is made to use local organic produce, and all proteins are sourced locally and free of antibiotics and hormones. Most dishes are whole foods rather than processed.

Accommodations at the retreat center are limited to participants only. The dining hall will be filled to capacity with our participants. There are some lovely hotels and other accommodations where your loved ones can stay while you participate. We encourage extended time in the islands for you and/or your family before and after the training where possible.

8:00 AM – Program – Guided Meditation/Visualization
8:30 AM – Breakfast
9:15 AM – Program

During some evenings there will be a program beginning at 7 PM.

The retreat center generally makes accommodations available to retreat participants before and after the program. Instructions for requesting extra nights will be included with your retreat room assignment – sent from our office.

Upon registration, you will receive via email a packet of information with lots of details. If you have any further questions beyond what you receive in the packet, feel free to contact our office via email at info@alancohen.com or phone (808) 785-8900.
